The rolling tool (10) has an engaging sector (12) with several shaped teeth (14.1, 14.2, 14.3) to produce thread grooves on the outside of a workpiece (pipe section). The first shaped tooth (14.1) engaging in the rolling process is fully built out with the exception of one possible phase. The axial extent (a) of the engaging sector corresponds to a single roll rise.

Ein Gewinderollwerkzeug (10) weist einen Eingriffsabschnitt (12) mit mehreren Profilzähnen (14) zur Ausbildung von Gewindenuten an der Außenseite eines rotationssymmetrischen Werkstückes, insbesondere eines Rohres oder eines Rohrabschnitts auf und zeichnet sich dadurch aus, dass der erste bei dem Rollvorgang in Eingriff kommende Profilzahn (14.1) mit Ausnahme einer gegebenenfalls vorgesehenen Fase vollständig ausgebildet ist, und die axiale Erstreckung (a) des Eingriffsabschnitts (12) einer einzigen Rollensteigung entspricht. <IMAGE>
