[origin: WO0214681A1] The invention relates to a fuel injection device with a pressure intensifier (1) arranged between the pressure accumulator and a nozzle compartment. Said pressure intensifier is provided with a mobile piston unit (4) for intensifying the pressure of the fuel to be supplied to the nozzle compartment. Said piston unit (4), for controlling the pressure intensifier (1), comprises a transitional zone from a larger to a smaller piston cross-section and a differential compartment (2) defined by said transitional zone. Said differential compartment is connected to the pressure accumulator compartment via a charging path (13) that is provided with a charging valve (10). In this manner, the amount of fuel to be controlled is reduced during control of the pressure intensifier (1) and the piston unit (4) is reset in less time.
