Fitting two more or less continuous layers of natural or imitation leather with a series of discontinuous inserts providing a certain local rigidity. Two outer layers are compressed by a roller so their outer surfaces have reliefs corresponding to positions of inserts, which can be in the form of a mesh layer or repeated motif. Inner surfaces of outer layers can be stuck together between the inserts. Fitting two more or less continuous layers (3, 4) of natural or imitation leather with a series of discontinuous inserts (16) providing a certain local rigidity. Two outer layers are compressed by a roller so their outer surfaces have reliefs corresponding to positions of inserts, which can be in the form of a mesh layer or repeated motif. Inner surfaces of outer layers can be stuck together between the inserts, which can be made from a plastic material between one and a few millimeters thick.

L'invention concerne un procédé de fabrication d'un matériau composite en nappe (1) destiné à la réalisation d'articles de maroquinerie, de bagagerie, de bijouterie, d'articles en cuir ou en succédané du cuir ou analogue. On part d'une première (3) et d'une seconde (4) nappes essentiellement continues et d'un insert (16) essentiellement discontinu et présentant une certaine rigidité locale. On interpose l'insert (16) entre la première (3) et la seconde nappes (4). On assure la solidarisation du sandwich comprenant la première et la seconde nappes et l'insert placé entre elles deux, puis on presse le sandwich de manière à réaliser un matériau composite dont au moins une des nappes (3,4) présente sur au moins une de ses faces extérieures des reliefs en correspondance avec les discontinuités de l'insert (16). <IMAGE>
