[origin: EP1380369A1] Casting of metal component in mold enclosing at least one casting core consists of casting molten metal into the mold, removing the component after cooling and eliminating the core from the cast component. Core is produced in a material made up of a mixture of at least two water soluble salts corresponding to eutectic or close to eutectic composition and core is eliminated by dissolving in water. Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) a method for the production of the casting core; and (b) the casting core made from at least two water soluble salts.
