Abstract (en)
Grain refinement of magnesium alloy casting involves adding graphite powder and manganese dioxide (preferably 0.1 - 0.22 mass%, especially 0.2 - 0.22 mass%) to a melt of magnesium alloy containing aluminum and manganese. The graphite powder and the manganese dioxide are accommodated in a metallic capsule.
