[origin: GB2416887A] Music tracks are received over wireless digital radio and stored in encrypted form in a digital media player, but only when the player is receiving and playing back advertisements is it possible to playback stored, encrypted tracks. A user could therefore build up a large library of music tracks over time, stored on the player, knowing that he could listen to any so long as he was prepared also to listen to advertisements. No payment is needed to initially receive and store the tracks; instead, distributors of the content and the content owners can be paid out of the advertising revenue. Further decryption of stored media content, beyond the limited amount decrypted once a decryption key associated with a given advertisement has been received and processed, is possible only so long as subsequent advertisements are received at and played back by the player.
