In a process to regulate the ratio of fuel to air during the start-up phase (carburetor or fuel injection) of petrol or gas-fueled piston engine operation, the ratio is continually modified until such time as the engine starts. The start-up procedure commences with a lean mixture.

Verfahren zum Einstellen des Kraftstoff-Luft-Verhältnisses, insbesondere des Leerlaufgemisches, bei Hubkolbenbrennkraftmaschinen nach dem Otto-Flüssigkraftstoff- und/oder Otto-Gaskraftstoffprinzip mittels einer Kraftstoffzumesseinrichtung wie Kraftstoffeinspritzanlage oder Gaszumischeinrichtung und/oder einer Luftzumesseinrichtung, wobei das Kraftstoff-Luft-Verhältnis (Luftzahl Lambda) so lange während der Startphase verändert wird, bis die Brennkraftmaschine startet.
