Apparatus (10) and method for making a metal lid (12) comprising a threaded tubular portion (12a). The apparatus (10) comprises at least a cutting and molding station (15), in correspondence with which, from a substantially plane metal sheet (11), a disc (111) is obtained, which by means of progressive drawing is transformed into a lid (12) in a single piece with the tubular portion (12a), and a threading station (30) in which the tubular portion (12a) is provided with threading.
