Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2006066986A1] Disclosed is a method for creating a hydrophobic effect of textiles (7) in a household washing machine comprising devices (13, 12) for heating a lye located in a lye container and controlling a washing process as well as a detergent storage chamber (112) for storing an individual dose of a liquid washing auxiliary. The aim of the invention is to be able to use said method, in which hydrophobic agents that are dissolved in the lye (6) are contacted with the textiles (7) during a treatment process that is similar to a washing process (Ph2), in a household washing machine while significantly increasing the obtained hydrophobic effect compared to methods known in prior art. Said aid is achieved by filling the lye container (1) with an amount of water (6) which is proportioned for a small bath, i.e. the ratio between the weight of the dry textiles (7) and the weight of the water is less than 1 to 8, and which is heated to a minimum temperature of 40 °C in the lye container(1) while the textiles (7) are soaked. In addition, a predetermined quantity of the hydrophobic agent is flushed from the detergent storage chamber (112) into the lye container (1) by means of water, said quantity forming the lye (6) along with the water. The textiles (7) are then finally contacted with the lye (6) for the first time and are treated for a maximum of 30 minutes. In a final phase (Ph3), the lye (6) is removed from the textiles (7) and the lye container (1) by spin-drying without rinsing.
