[origin: EP1760193A2] The heating roller has a smooch and hard peripheral surface for the production or treatment of fibrous materials such as paper, cardboard and tissue web. The heating roller includes a ground tube made of weldable steel, and formed with a welding layer which has greater hardness property than the ground tube. The welding layer contains metal alloy that is welded to the ground tube. An independent claim is included for the heating roller manufacture.
