Abstract (en)
[origin: EP2079088A2] The switchgear (1) has two switch contact pairs (2, 3) for breaking a flow path (4) of current. A discharge packet (5) is arranged in a region of the switch contact pairs for discharging electric arcs (6) that are developed while opening the flow path, where opening paths (7) of the switch contact pairs run parallel or anti-parallel to each other. The switch contact pairs are switched in series such that same current (i) flows in the electric arcs in same direction. The discharge packet is arranged in a region between the two opening paths.
