[origin: WO2010060402A1] In a method for grinding a workpiece (30), a relative movement (50) of a rotational axis (42) of a rotating grinding tool (40) and the workpiece (30) is generated. The relative movement (50) is a superposition of a basic movement (52) in a direction parallel to a surface (34) of the workpiece (30) to be generated and an oscillating movement (54). As a result of the oscillating movement (54), the grinding tool (40) can be periodically separated at least partially from the workpiece (30), thereby allowing cooling lubricant (60) to penetrate into the gap (62) between the grinding tool (40) and workpiece (30) and cooling the interacting zone (36). The surface (34) of the workpiece (30) to be generated is generated on or near the periphery (44) of the grinding tool (40) using a surface section of the grinding tool (40).
