[origin: WO2009146975A1] The invention relates to a high-pressure pump for a fuel injection device of an internal combustion engine, having a pump piston (2) which is guided axially in a guide piece (1) and having a pump head (3), wherein the guide piece, the pump piston and the pump head delimit a working chamber (4) which is connected to an inlet (5) and/or to an outlet (6) for the fuel to be delivered. According to the invention, the pump piston (2) is additionally guided in a guide sleeve (7) which is arranged in the working chamber (4) in such a way that the working pressure which prevails in the working chamber during the operation of the pump acts on the outer circumferential surface, and on the end surface facing toward the pump head (3), of the guide sleeve (7).
