[origin: WO2015165450A1] The invention relates to a device for force simulation at an actuation element of a vehicle, preferably a pedal simulator, which gives haptic feedback by means of specified force/displacement behavior, comprising a piston/cylinder unit (5, 12), wherein the piston (5) is connected to the actuation element (3) by means of a piston rod (4), which actuation element axially moves the piston within the cylinder. In the case of a device for which the vehicle driver haptically feels the same force as in the case of a hydraulic actuation system, the cylinder is filled with a medium, wherein the piston has at least one through-opening (17, 18) and/or at least one groove (15, 16) that extends on an inner wall of the cylinder, through which at least one through-opening and/or at least one groove the medium flows from a first working chamber (19), which lies in front of the piston in a direction of motion of the piston, into a second working chamber (20), which is arranged behind the piston, when the actuation element is actuated.
