The riveting device includes a connecting device, a mandrel, a rotary drive which rotates the connecting element around a rotational axis of the connecting element, and a longitudinal drive which axially drives the connecting element relative to the rotational axis. The blind rivet element is screwed onto the mandrel of the riveting device. The mandrel is connected to the connecting element on the riveting device. The method includes starting an emergency program via a user input on the riveting device. The emergency program includes the steps of rotating the connecting element with the rotary drive in a rotating direction to separate the connection between the mandrel and the connecting element, and, upon reaching a default, stopping the rotation of the connecting element with the rotary drive.

Verfahren zum Entfernen eines Blindnietelements (1) von einem Nietgerät (10), wobei das Blindnietelement (1) über eine erste Gewindeanordnung (2, 12) mit einem Zugdorn (11) des Nietgeräts (10) verschraubt ist, wobei der Zugdorn (11) über eine zweite Gewindeanordnung (14, 16) mit einem Verbindungselement (15) am Nietgerät (10) verbunden ist, wobei das Nietgerät (10) ein Längsantrieb (17) zum axialen Antreiben des Verbindungselements (15) sowie ein Drehantrieb (18) zum drehbaren Antreiben des Verbindungselements (15) jeweils gegenüber einer Drehachse (A) des Verbindungselements (15) aufweist, das Verfahren umfasst die folgenden Verfahrensschritte: Starten eines Notfallprogramms durch eine Nutzereingabe am Nietgerät (10), das Notfallprogramm veranlasst: ein Antreiben des Verbindungselements (15) durch den Drehantrieb (18) in einer derartigen Drehrichtung, so dass die Verbindung zwischen dem Zugdorn (11) und dem Verbindungselement (15) über die zweite Gewindeanordnung (14, 16) gelöst wird, ein Beenden des Antriebs durch den Drehantrieb (18) nach Erreichen einer Vorgabe.
