[origin: WO2017187293A1] The invention relates to an air jet spinning machine for producing a yarn (27) from a sliver (1), wherein the air jet spinning machine comprises at least one spinneret (2) with a swirl chamber (3), wherein the swirl chamber (3) has an inlet (4) for the entry of the sliver (1), wherein the spinneret (2) comprises a yarn-forming element, extending at least partially into the swirl chamber (3), in the form of a spindle (6) having an inlet opening (5), wherein an annular gap (9) is formed between an outer face (7) of the spindle (6) and an inner wall (8), facing the spindle (6), of the swirl chamber (3), wherein the spinneret (2) comprises air nozzles (10) via which air (28) is able to be introduced into the swirl chamber (3) in order impart a rotation on the sliver (1) during spinning operation, following a piecing operation, of the spinneret (2) in the region of the inlet opening (5) in the spindle (6), and wherein the spindle (6) has an internal draw-off duct (12) having a longitudinal axis (11), the yarn (27) being able to be drawn out of the swirl chamber (3) via said take-off duct (12). The invention proposes that the air nozzles (10) be oriented in the direction of an end side (13), surrounding the inlet opening (5), of the spindle (6) such that a part of the air (28) introduced via the air nozzles (10) during spinning operation enters the annular gap (9) and the rest of said air (28) enters the draw-off duct (12).
