[origin: CA3091460A1] The invention relates to a method of welding sheets provided with an aluminum-silicon anticorrosion layer, wherein, at a juncture prior to the welding, a laser is run over the aluminum-silicon layer that lies on the sheets in the region of the weld joint and the intermetallic layer beneath it between the base material and the anticorrosion coating, and there is firstly evaporation and suctioning of material from the aluminum-silicon layer and the intermetallic interlayer beneath it and secondly generation of reaction with the base material that extends into the base material, such that a metallic reaction layer or alloy ablation layer is produced, including iron and optionally alloy elements from the base material and aluminum-silicon from the aluminum-silicon layer and the intermetallic interlayer, where the reaction layer has a thickness of 5 µm up to 100 µm.
