The cable comprises at least one insulating layer and a cable sheath. The method comprises the steps of positioning a cable connector at a conductor end section, the cable connector at least partially surrounding a section of the insulating layer; arranging the conductor end section in a fixing tube, a first tube section of the fixing tube at least partially surrounding the cable connector and a second tube section of the fixing tube at least partially surrounding the cable sheath; pressing the fixing tube between a plurality of strip-shaped pressing surfaces arranged around the central axis at a constant distance from the central axis, the first tube section being in plug connection with the cable connector, and the second tube section being in plug connection with the cable sheath. During the pressing step, the first pipe section is pressed to a first inner diameter and the second pipe section is pressed to a second inner diameter greater than the first inner diameter.
