A sheet directing element (9) is provided below and/or along the sheet conveyor path, wherein a deionization device (8) is paired with the sheet directing element (9). The invention additionally relates to a deionization device (8) for providing positive and negative ions and to the use sheet directing elements (9) containing deionization devices (8).
