According to the invention, the electronic device (14a-e) has at least one detection unit (48a-e) which is designed to actively detect at least one insert-tool-specific characteristic variable, in particular at least for determining a wear condition of the insert tool (12a-e) and/or for determining whether such an insert tool has been dropped.
